Description:
Marked on top of the barrel is "J B SMITH Maker Northfield Vt Warranted Gain Twist Cast Steel". A nicely done gun with a 28 inch octagon barrel that measures just over an inch at the muzzle. Fitted for a false muzzle which is not present. Globe front sight and an unusual rear sight that is mounted with an adjustment on the tang. Set trigger needs work. Deluxe fancy wood is in very good condition with a cheek piece. German silver patchbox and buttplate. Overall gun is in good condition with sharp corners and about 50% blue turning plum. Good markings. Lock plate is marked "Sheldon" and nicely engraved with a game scene. Fancy trigger guard. Forearm cap is a pewter color. This rifle is about 36 caliber.
