This is a formerly 1873 Springfield Trapdoor army rifle that was converted to a Model 1906 Fencing musket. As I understand approximately 12000 were converted from surplus outdated Springfield trapdoor rifles still in storage prior to WW1 for use in bayonet practice. There were several types made and I believe it is a type 4. I do know it is correct as converted and is in very good condition. They were made the same length as the model 1903 rifle. There is no bayonet present. Please feel free to me with any questions. Shipping will be actuall cost by insured usps priority mail with tracking.
