Description:
***   SOLD   ***   Handsome Scottish-made Harkom12 bore boxlock ejector with signature Harkom carved serpentine fences and highly figured 30” nitro Damascus barrels. Action shows a great deal of residual case coloring and is crisply engraved in full coverage. Appears to be an upgraded version of the firm’s standard engraving. Harkom gun no. 2242 was made in the early 1900’s. Auto ejectors and safety. Weighs 6lb 10oz.   ***   The 30” nitro Damascus barrels are highly figured which is a known Harkom specialty. Chambered for 2-1/2” shotshells they are topped by a raised solid concave gamestyle rib. The rib is inscribed “Joseph Harkom & Son. 30 George Street. Edinburgh”. The right barrel is bored 0.732 with a constriction of 0.008 for a Light Improved Cylinder choking. Minimum wall thickness is 0.027. The left barrel is also bored 0.732 and has a constriction of 0.022 for Modified choke. Minimum wall thickness is 0.026.   ***   The straight hand stock with drop points and splinter forearm are made of highly figured French walnut. Professionally refinished with crisp checkering. Stock dimensions are 15-1/8” including a one-inch pad by 1-3/8” by 2”. Cast off for the righthand shot.   ***   Harkom was known as one of the highest quality Scottish makers. In fact, Diggory Hadoke lists Harkoms as his favorite boxlocks in his recent book “The British Boxlock” where it is featured inside and on the back cover. Scottish made, high quality, rugged and handsome. This Harkom has it all.  ***   Please note that the photographs are part of the description. Not for sale where prohibited by state or local laws. Buyer is responsible for all shipping, insurance, and any other related charges. I give a 3-day non-firing inspection period which begins when it arrives at the buyer’s FFL or specified address if the gun is classified as an Antique. Returns at buyer’s expense.
