Description:
Rare early production type of a Later 1850’s Allen & Wheelock .34 caliber Side Hammer Belt-Revolver. Rare pin is a screw in type that enters from the rear of the frame.  The trigger guard and loading lever are one assembly. The top barrel address reads ALLEN & WHEELOCK The upper left barrel flat stamp reads ALLLENS PATENT, DEC. 15, 1857. The bottom of the frame reads PATENT, DEC.15, 1857. The DEC. Made 1858 close to war time.  The serial number is 62 of less than 100 manufactured and is stamped on bottom of barrel, on bottom of frame under the trigger guard/loading lever, and on the bottom of trigger guard. The 3” barrel retains 75 - 80% blue.  There are case colors remaining on the rear left side of the frame.  Markings are sharp. The gun has very nice grips with some varnish remaining. There are some slight small dings along the left grip heal. Overall the grips have no cracks…just some handling marks. The action works fine. Photos are telling in natural lighting.  These Pocket & Belt Models are said to be rare and less than 100 of each were manufactured.  Survival rate(?). See Flayderman 5A-056.
