Description:
Nice Pre War Winchester Model 70 Super Grade in very scarce 22 Hornet caliber. S/N 57*** with matching scribed bolt made just after WWII in 1946, but of 100% Pre War configuration, components, and finishes. (Note bolt handle profile, matted rear bridge, rust blued barrel, frost blued extractor, etc.)
95% original finishes with typical marks of a rifle that has seen some use, but has been very well cared for over the past nearly 80 years! There has been a period quality Tilden safety lever installed at some point, which was a common and more ergonomically friendly safety for many than the standard flag safety of these early guns. This was a drop in part with no modification required, so of course can be easily returned to the readily available flag safety lever if so desired. This safety works perfectly as do all other mechanical functions. The bore is excellent. The rear receiver bridge remains undrilled. I have also confirmed a good chamber that remains a true 22 Hornet that has never been reamed to K Hornet. All SG components are correct including a Redfield 254 front sight, factory issued Lyman 48 peep with matching component numbers, correct detachable swivels, etc..
A really nice gun that you can still take out and enjoy as it was intended to be.
Expedited and fully insured shipping from Alaska to your FFL is an additional $100
