E. J. Churchill Premier 28 gauge. Wonderful early Churchill Premier Best quality 28 gauge side by side. 28" game rib barrels, 2-1/2" chambers choked modified and improved modified (.009/.017). Diminutive small frame sidelock action perfectly scaled for the gauge. Weighs an incredible 4lbs 13oz! Barrel address reads "8 Agar Street Strand London WC". Bores and walls as new.
This rare small bore features automatic ejectors cocking indicators, top third bite, double triggers, auto safe in gold. Engraved with the most delicate English scroll covering 100 % of the entire action flows with the small scale theme. "PREMIERE MODELE" surrounds the EJC monogram on the bottom of the action. Wedges of engraving continue at the breech end of the barrels. Straight hand stock of dark well-figured French walnut measures 1-3/8" comb, 2" heel, cast off for right hand. 14-1/2" pull over checkered heel plate.
Completely renovated some 40 years ago by Don Masters, longtime head of Churchill Gunmakers, the gun remains in fabulous condition. The quintessential British classic with rich case colors and the dark figured walnut. Balanced just forward of the pin to give great feel and control. Fitted leather VC case with makers label.
