VERY RARE. lst yr production in the most rare cal (only 242 were made during 1962 which was the lst yr of producition for these exceptional rifles. Durind the lst 2 to 3 apprx yrs of production (1962 to 1964) 700's were made with 20" factory barrels. In 1964 non magnum cals were switched to 22" and mag cals to 24 with some but not this one made in (blue) stainless.
These have since come to be known by collectors as Carbines but Remington did not market them as such at the time
Date of manufacture was August 1962 with 242 made in 62, in subsequent years the number produced in this excellent cal dropped to lower numbers. By comparison some 7000 were made in 7mm Rem an 9000 in 30 06 in 1962 (*)
The all original blue is excllent with some light marks on the floor plate. There are a number of bumps and bruises on the stock but no cracks or repairs and could easily be refinished or swapped out with a stock from a more common cal of the same era to have an exceptional, valuable and very rare gun...Stock shortened to accomdate pad: LOP to end of pad is 13 1/4
