Here we have a very clean and extremely nice Smith & Wesson Model 27-3 double action revolver chambered in .357 magnum caliber. The Smith & Wesson Model 27 is a six-shot, double-action revolver chambered for the .357 Magnum cartridge and manufactured by the United States company Smith & Wesson. It was first produced in 1935, and many versions of it are still in production today. The Model 27 was built on S&W's carbon steel, large N-frame, had adjustable sights, and was available at various times with 31⁄2", 4", 5", 6", 61⁄2", 83⁄8", 83⁄4", or 105⁄8" barrel lengths. The fit, finish, and accuracy of the new revolver was exceptional by any standard. The heat-treating and finish are excellent. The revolver features a shrouded ejector rod, adjustable rear sight and a checkered top strap. This particular example is in very high condition exhibiting very slight handling marks, extrememly light turn rings on the cylinder and the grips could pass for brand new. The walnut grips have sharp checkering and the S&W Medallion on each side. The 6 inch barrel has a very bright bore and strong rifling. The top strap is sharply and finely checkered. Checkering on the cylinder release and hammer are still very sharp. The hammer and trigger have very good color. The action and lock up are very good. Gap between the front of the cylinder and the back of the barrel is very small. This highly desirable and collectable Smith & Wesson would make a great addition to a collection and an excellent investment.
