Payment Types Accepted: US Post Office MO, Certified Check Description: (Reduced) Selling an AM Mainwaring SxS Sidelock shotgun in 12-gauge. This gun was made for AM Mainwaring, Paris, in the Belgium trade. The very little information I could locate dates this gun to the 1920s. I have found other examples of guns made by Thonon in Belgium that match up to the hallmarks of this gun so I believe they may have been the maker. I don't have any history on this gun but it is either one that has been extensively cared for and seldom if ever shot or it was professionally refurbished to close to new condition. Everything about this gun that I've looked over and tested is in excellent working condition. The barrels are flawless to my eye inside and out. The action locks tight without any wiggle with the forearm removed. Case colors are just about 100%. Bluing on the trigger guard is a little thin but not silvery. Really nicely engraved with oak leaves on the fences. Look at the pic of the breech of the action - I don't see any wear to indicate the gun has been fired much if at all. The case is made to perfectly fit this gun. The case came from Bryant in London which is a very hard to find item in itself. Bryant made cases for Abercrombie & Fitch and other high end retailers. The case is in excellent condition which helps indicate the gun was mostly put away and seldomly taken out, case and all. The original rosewood cleaning rod and 4 ebony and brass turnscrews are included, along with an Abercrombie & Fitch oil bottle. I believe this gun was made to shoot pigeons or trap due to the high dimensions and long LOP. The barrels are tightly choked at IM and F per my brass gauge. You will appreciate the workmanship and condition of this gun much more in person - it's impossible to capture it in pictures. Will be shipped from my FFL to yours. Open to reasonable offers.
