There are no notable scrapes or gouges, nor any repairs or structural cracks. It is 100% correct in every way with all of the unique components associated with this rare chambering present and genuine to include: #7 mag box, #5 ejector, proper bolt collar stop that even has the small "s" under the ring. The vast majority of these early rare caliber Model 70s utilized Model 54 barrel blanks in their assembly, and this one is no exception, having one of the earliest blanks I have observed, date stamped 1932 under the barrel! In addition to the originality of caliber and inner components, this rifle is of "transition" era production with a clover leaf tang and rare "clam shell" safety AND is a Super Grade style having the correct stock, stamped floorplate, robust detachable swivels, and correct Redfield 254 gold bead front sight. The bore and mechanical functions of this fine rifle are also excellent. **Note**: A friend/colleague and noted M70 expert has just pointed out that this rifle has the special "patents applied for" roll mark on R side of barrel.(a 1932 thing) and another pointed out that this particular rifle is featured on p. 512 of The Winchester Book by George Madis. Expedited and fully insured shipping from Alaska to your FFL is an additional $100. SOLD Curio/Relic: Yes |
