1941 Johnson Rifle Auto Carbine WWII USMC
This is a Johnson Rifle Model 1941 in the auto carbine configuration. It is a very rare and uniqure version of the Johnson rifle. From my research it seems Melvyn Johnson only ever produced five of these. One of which " Not this one" served in WWII with US Marine Major Harry Torgerson. This gun is Serial Number is B6118 and was meant to be a lighter and shorter version of the semi auto 1941 rifle. This is almost a hybrid between the semi auto and full auto versions with features of both present. I will not go into the detailed history of the Johnson rifle. If you are looking at this listing you probably already know what you are looking at or you can find out an awful lot from Google or from Canfields book on the Johnson rifle. I have an autographed copy of the book. If you're interested in it, I will include the book at no additional charge.
This gun has been in my consignor's collection for a very long time. He has never attempted to fire it so I cannot state that it is functional. From the fantastic condition I would assume it functions as intended but I do not know. The condition appears to be original but please judge for yourself from the photos. If it has been refinished it would have been decades ago before he owned it. The stock does have a few dings and dents and scratches but nothing major. The overall condition of this rifle is excellent for its age. The sling is an aftermarket sling which he purchased and added many years ago. If you need any additional photos or have questions please ask. I will do my best. I will include and ship the gun in an aluminum and padded rifle case so as to protect it in transit.
