Description: Roby Model 1860 Light Cavalry Saber dated 1863. According to John H. Thillmann is his book "Civil War Cavalry and Artillery Sabers", of the 3 different address styles found on 1863 Roby sabers, this 3 line address is the most scarce. While made in the middle of the Civil War, this saber apparently saw long service afterwards as the hilt and scabbard have been plated, and the brass hilt wire replaced with iron or steel wire to meet the new regulations in the early 1900's saying sabers should be trimmed in silver. Blade is very smooth with no pitting or nicks. Scabbard does have 2 small dents in the middle of the reverse side. Matching subinspector initial "M" on pommel tang and scabbard drag. Please take a look at all the photos as they provide the best description. Shipping to the lower 48 contiguous states. Shipping cost $45.00 SOLD |
