Yes this is not an misprint this is an original .44 Walker, approximately 170 years old.
In very good, working condition for a gun of this age, bore is good, timing and locking is excellent.
Serial Number: 988
Evidence remains of scrolling on the cyllinder. However, manufacturers name and other markings have long since worn off.
This handgun is most likely a copy made in the USA around the time of the American Civil War (1860's).
There are no Belgian Proofmarks on this handgun, so the likelyhood of this gun being a Belgian copy is slim to nil.
I have shown this firearm to a Colt pistol expert and historian and he said it looks very like an original Colt, and if not, it is the best copy he has ever seen.
What is for sure, is that this is a genuine antique.
This Walker was found in Europe and over the years a lot of US Western firearms have ended up in Europe and Ireland as they were brought back following the American Gold Resh.
A lot of these pistols may even have been used by Irish rebels during their fight for freedom in the early 20th Century.
This gun is a must for any serious Colt collector that doesent have hundreds of thousands to purchase a certified Colt Walker, Though I cannot say for certain this is a genuine Colt, what if?????
