Description:
Winchester set of custom Model 12’s and model 42 skeet guns…five (5) guns!   I believe this to be the handiwork of Simmons Gun Specialties under the direct guidance of none other than Ernie Simmons himself.  The set had to have been put together in the 1960’s and consists of:

One Model 12, 12 gauge with two separate front end assemblies.  One 30” full and one 26” Skeet with a Cutts.  SN:  307541, (26” set different number)

One Model 12, 16 gauge made up as a 24” skeet with a Cutts.  SN:  954374

One Model 12, 20 gauge Pigeon made up as a 26” skeet with a Cutts.  SN:  1393324

One Model 12, 28 gauge Pigeon made up as a 26” skeet with a Cutts.  SN:  1376444  This is a true 28 gauge marked frame!

One Model 42, .410 bore made up as a 26” skeet with a Cutts.  SN:  69919

All five guns are game scene engraved.  All have Simmons donut base, round post “grey” vent ribs.  (Some of the ribs have an anchor screw in the top and some do not!)  All guns have chrome magazine tubes.  All guns have the name “Ford Simcox” engraved on the trigger guards.  All guns have a toggle style safety.

I believe that the 20 and 28 were factory Pigeon grade guns initially with the gorgeous factory Pigeon grade wood remaining.  The Model 42 has very handsome factory checkered Skeet wood.  The 16 gauge has a Winchester stock and an aftermarket forearm.  The 12 gauge has an aftermarket buttstock and both front ends have what appears to be Pigeon grade forearms.  There is a Pigeon engraved on all of the Model 12 extensions and as mentioned above the 20 and 28 appear to be original with the two 12 gauge extensions and the 16 look newer.

So, this is a five-gun Skeet set that must have been Mr. Ford Simcox’s pride and joy!

$10,250.00 for the set.  Price reduced to $8,500.00  for the set 8/1/23
