Description:
General Specs: Holloway & Naughton, Year 2005, 12 Gauge, 7lbs 8oz
Serial Number: 12-17

Holloway & Naughton 12g Over/Under Sidelock Ejector built on a Boss action with the low-profile good looks the original Boss & Co. over/under (introduced in 1909) was famous for.  This is a modern gun built just north of London in 2006 (proofed in 2006, build began in 2003) with modern steels and technology. The Holloway Naughton Boss over/under is hand fit, hand-engraved, and is stocked in the old-school methods…by hand…as should be expected for a fine British over/under that would cost in excess of $80,000 to purchase and have delivered to the USA today.  Holloway and Naughton was established at the end of the 19th century and was well known for high quality firearms.  Brought to life again in the 1990’s to produce BEST GUNS, the Boss action has been revived and is one of the most elegant over/under guns ever produced.  This gun was meticulously produced by some of the best and most well-known names in the British gun trade, to include:

-Barrels by Bill Blacker
-stocked by John Keen
-engraved by Geoffrey Delahaut
-action by current manager of Boss & Co. (can’t find his name)
-finished by David Sinnerton

This is a faithful rendition of the Boss & Co. Over/Under Sidelock Ejector patented in 1909 with the same type of bifurcated lumps and trunnion system.  The slender and graceful action is color hardened and embellished with fine rose and scroll engraving befitting of a British Best.  There is a touch of gold at the cocking indicators, the word “SAFE”, and the serial number…just enough and not gaudy. The gun has a single non-selective mechanical trigger and is very nicely stocked with a highly figured French walnut with marbling and “fiddle back” radiating through the entire butt stock. Traditional drop points and point pattern checkering and a Woodward style grip with a trigger bow that extends to an ebony pistol grip cap makes for a stunning and graceful presentation.  The forend matches perfectly and uses the Boss type ejector system with the characteristic forend iron.
The 30” demi-bloc barrels have a solid machined matted top rib and semi-circular Boss type rib extension. The gun has original 2 ¾" (70mm) chambers with 2006 London proof marks. The barrels are fitted with Teague chokes (ten choke tubes included with your purchase) and carry 2009 Birmingham proof marks from when the chokes were added. The gun is in a solid 99% factory original condition and is housed in a fine leather case. Also included are extra firing pins and springs fitted to the action.  It takes well over a year to order a new Holloway Naughton Boss style over/under, and the cost is sure to go up compared to today’s prices.  We have priced this gun at a very attractive number to entice a sale and put the gun into a new owner’s hands for the upcoming upland season.  A great gun for sporting clays as well.
