Description:
****** SOLD RANDY P. ******

Colt SAA Single Action Army in 45 Colt of course with Colt Archives letter showing serial number 35323 was one of 203 revolvers delivered to the US Government inspector on February 13, 1877 in the normal Cavalry configuration of blued finish, wood grips, 7.5" barrel. Subsequently the revolver was returned and refurbished, being turned into its current Artillery configuration with 5.5" barrel and typical mixed serial numbers as no care was taken to keep all the serialized parts together. Upon completion of the refurb, this revolver was one of 500 sent to the Commanding Officer at Springfield Armory on May 18, 1903.

Serial numbers are:  frame 35323 with J.T.C. initials - the original inspector John T. Cleveland; grip 120214, trigger guard 111994, cylinder (worn) 3409. Loading gate has assembly number 1884.

Basically a patina finish with some bright blue on the protected areas of the grip strap and trigger guard, strong blue remains on the ejector housing. Has all 4 clicks, very positive and strong, locks up tight as a drum. All screw slots are in excellent condition, as are the grooves on the cylinder pin. Grips sound with no splits or cracks, just light minimal carry marks and slight losses at toe. Barrel address, 3-line patent dates, and "US" stamping on frame are clear. Bright, clean, strongly-rifled bore with a hint of scoring use but no pitting, no rings. Colt Archives letter  will be included with the sale, a $100 value by itself. Overall grades NRA Antique Very Good and will make a nice addition to your collection.
