We offer you a “Pre-Garcia” Finnish Sako Model L579 Forester in .308 Winchester Bolt Action Rifle not Bofors Steel Marked from 1968.
This Sako is not import marked making it a Pre-Garcia rifle. It wears a 23 inch barrel that does not have the Bofors Steel marking. The serial number dates it from 1968 making it right at 55 years old. The bore on the rifle is excellent with no issues. The bluing on the barrel shows surface marks, some freckling with wear at the muzzle. The receiver shows marks with the bottom metal showing thinning. The stock has a few dings and surface marks from use. The checkering panels are in very fine to excellent condition. There are no cracks, chips or repairs in the stock. It has the original scope rings and in them sits a Japan manufactured Limer scope. It is a 3-9x33 with a German reticle as pictured. It is also a first focal plane scope! Yes, FFP scopes have been around for quite some time. The optics are clean and clear with no issues. The left side of the receiver is marked “L579 No. 86698” and with two proof marks. The left side of the barrel is marked “FORESTER MADE IN FINLAND”. The top of the barrel at the chamber is marked “SAKO / Cal. .308”. The bottom of the bolt handle is marked “698”.
