Description:
1895 SADDLE RING CARBINE, .30 ARMY CALIBER (.30-40 KRAG), #79XXX, MADE THE YEAR THE TITANIC SANK IN 1912. Fine example that retains the original matching handguard- these often missing. Fine aged  and lightly thinning blue on the barrel with correct ladder sight with slide intact. Only the front sight pinned blade appears changed with a small brass blade in the unaltered base. Receiver mostly gray brown with some blue in the more protected areas and still has old dried grease on some of the surface indicating this one has been in storage for years. Tight action, strong hammer spring and safety half-cock notch. Excellent walnut stock and forend with only a short hairline crack in the top of the handguard ahead of the receiver ring- typical and still solid. Tight wood to metal fit. Excellent markings, saddle ring intact, no extra holes in the receiver. Bore is a little dark, but has strong rifling and no pitting. A good, solid 111 year old 1895 saddle ring carbine. These were a favorite of the Arizona Rangers of the period. Hard to find with handguard intact.
