Production was stopped in 1909 with 166,849 revolvers being produced. The Model 1877 was preferred by many lawmen and badmen. Bat Masterson, Doc Holiday and Billy the Kid were all alleged to have carried a Model 1877. The item for sale is a Colt Model 1877 Lightning revolver. It is chambered for the .38 Colt and features the scarce 6" barrel. Overall the revolver is in very good condition having been manufactured in 1900. The metal has a faded blue patina finish, the screw heads are nice and the metal is not dinged or scratched. The original Colt grips are excellent, fit nicely with no cracks or chips and only minimal wear to the checkering. Mechanically, the action is excellent cycling in both single action and double action. There is no extra play in the cylinder. This is a very nice example of the legendary Colt Lightning that was well cared for and aged gracefully. Please include $35 to cover the shipping and insurance.
