1955 Type 1 National Match Springfield M1 Garand, serial number matches the time frame for the barrel date, only the '55 dated barrel is stamped NM and gauges a -1, bolt is the correct heat lot for the serial number range, correct post war cut op rod, correct wide base gas cylinder with high hump gas cylinder lock and Popper gas cylinder lock screw screw, as far as I can tell this is a correct type 1 National Match rifle. This was received with a couple other rifles and all of them had the same name and number stamped in the barrel channel, from this to a 22 so I believe that is the original owners personal stamping marking his property.
