Description: Ethan Allen was at one time a major manufacturer of guns. The company had a factory in Worcester, Massachusetts, and produced quite a few guns over the years. Produced between 1869 and 1871, the Allen Vest Pocket was one of the smallest pistols made, at 4" in total length. This is a .22 Short derringer single shot; the barrel swings sideways to load or unload. Pulling the hammer back a little way allows access to the round. It's also quite rare. According to the records from the Springfield Armory Museum, only about 300 were produced from 1869 to 1871. The grip is walnut of bird's head design, and there is no checkering. It has no sights, and the frame is made of brass. The firing pin spring is a typical flat type. .22 Short SOLD Curio/Relic: Yes Chambers: Single shot Metal Condition: Good Wood Condition: Very Good Bore Condition: Good Barrels: 2 Triggers: Spur Stock Dimensions: 4" - Maybe the smallest derringer ever made Butt Pad: Bird's head shaped walnut Sights: None Item Location: Garner, NC |
