This 7.5X55mm Swiss caliber model 1896/11 was upgraded by the Swiss to Model 1911 configuration from the original Model 1889/96 configuration. The most noticable changes are the addition of a pistol grip to the stock and the deletion of the magazine cut off. The 30.7"" barrel has an excellent bore with bright, strong rifling. The gun has approx. 92% blue with muzzle wear from a bayonet, high point wear, and buttplate finish loss. The serial numbers on the bolt, barrel, receiver, buttplate, and magazine match. The stock is very good with no cracks or chips and multiple issue light to moderate dents and dings. The right side of the butt has the Swiss cross stamped in it and the top of the comb is stamped 39184 SOLTHURN with what appears to be VA?D stamped across it. The receiver serial number has a P stamped below and 7.5[mm] is stamped forwqrd on the barrrel. This shows that the rifle was sold by the government to an individual soldier. It also has a Bern proof on top of the chamber and multiple Swiss cross inspection marks. The action functions correctly. This rifle is ready for your Swiss or European rifle collection.
