ENGRAVED Antique GORCKE .50 Caliber Long Barreled Pistol PERCUSSION Rifled
Mid-19th Century Germanic Piece with Horn Tipped Stock
Here we present an antique Engraved Percussion Pistol by Gorcke, made circa the 1850s in the area that is now Germany. This pistol features a long, thin profile. The stock is hand-checkered at the grip and tipped in horn at the muzzle, along with the rammer. The lock and trigger guard and barrel tang are scroll engraved. The trigger guard has a spur for the middle finger. The barrel is rifle and equipped with a simple notched rear sight and a short blade front sight, though the latter has been chipped off.
The overall condition is very good. Uniform original finish throughout. The markings and engravings are clear. The action is excellent. The bore is dim with strong rifling. The stock is smooth and solid with little wear to show. There is a small stable split on the right side at the muzzle. A nice piece!
