Description: We are pleased to present this rare and historical piece of early Smith & Wesson firearms production. This is a Model 3 Russian Third Model in 44 S&W Russian caliber bearing serial number 38409 and was made between 1874-1878. It has very good mechanical functions, crisp and tight with good timing. The bore has nice rifling, and exhibits medium amounts of light corrosion. It has a very respectable original overall patina worthy of almost 150 years of the aging process. The wood grips are not cracked or damaged. Famous lawman Pat Garrett was believed to have killed Billy the Kid with one of these. Also, John Wesley Hardin was holding one of these when Sheriff John Selman gunned him down in the Acme Saloon in El Paso in 1895. Only 13,500 were made of this Commercial model. Once pieces like this are absorbed in the collector’s market they are basically “GONE”. Hard assets are the wave of the future. Being an antique it will require no ATF paper work for the transaction. For payment I will accept personal checks, money orders, certified check or cashiers’ check, all major credit cards. Credit cards are acceptable with a 4% up-charge for processing. Personal checks require 8 business days to clear the bank, all other forms of payment receive same day as received shipment. You are responsible for any state and local laws.
