Description: Arisaka Type 99, chambered in 7.7 Jap. Features include: Mauser inspired bolt action, 26 in. barrel length, 5 shot internal box magazine, one-piece bolt construction, controlled feed Mauser style extractor, full length wooden stock, wood buttplate, knob style safety located on the rear of the bolt body, straight bolt handle, action operated sliding dust cover, lever-style bolt release with integral ejector. This type 99 can be referred to as a 'last ditch gun' when the Japanese were taking as many shortcuts to get rifles out at the end of the war. Based on the markings on the left side of the receiver, this was an 11th series from the Nagoya arsenal. The distinguishing features are: poor weld quality on the barrel bands and the knob safety, lack of top dust cover, no hole drilled for the cleaning rod, late war fixed rear sight, late war cylindrical style bolt handle, and wood butt plate. The chrysanthemum was removed from the top of the receiver and this variant does not have the typical Japanese lettering showing its Type 99 designation. Stock does have some wear, mainly on the butt plate and left side below the receiver. 7.7 Japanese SOLD Chambers: 7.7 Jap Metal Condition: Good Wood Condition: Good Bore Condition: Good Barrels: 26' Stock Dimensions: 12.5' Butt Pad: Wood Sights: Fixed Item Location: Fort Mill, SC |
