Description:
Confederate Mississippi Eagle waist belt plate, weight 76 grams, exactly as pictured in the "Confederate Belt Buckles & Plates" book by Steve Mullinax (expanded edition), page 170, plate number 308 (see last picture). This is one of a few buckles I'll be listing coming from a large batch of Civil War items that a local collector is freeing up slowly as he is getting on in years and wants to move his vast assortment of original items, both Union and Confederate, so stay vigilant as I don't know what he'll release next - he has many boxes and totes filled with pictures, documents, buttons, corps badges, letters and lots more! There is no written provenance as to where it was dug from, only verbal. The plate is dented and dinged in several spots but the loop is mostly straight. On the rarity scale this is a 8+ and is a great one to add to your collection.
