Colt 1911 LW Commander Lew Horton SE O4942XE $1900 obo
The Colt Lightweight Commander combines Colt history with modern innovation. The carbon
steel frame and slide and Stainless Steel barrel are ready for rugged use. The Dual Spring Recoil
System reduces felt recoil while extending recoil spring life. Custom G10 grips and the upswept
beavertail grip safety make for a capable carry gun that is equally comfortable on the range. The
all new Colt Lightweight Commander features a lightweight aluminum alloy frame that results in a
reduced weight, making it well suited for all-day carry. The light, yet durable, frame comes with a
subdued black anodized finish that doesn’t draw attention or reflect a lot of light, while the slide is
made from rugged carbon steel and wears a classy blued finish. The pistol itself weights a relatively
slight 29.4 ounces. When I first saw this pistol I thought the matte black finish was part of the LH
upgrade. Turns out it came that way from Colt and the G10 grips were replaced with faux pearl ones.
When I received the pistol the original grips were not included in the box. That never sat right with
me so I bought a pair of OEM ones and have included them. Sorry they are ones that came on the
pistol but they are the ones that would come on a new one today if the LW 1911 were still being made.
There was also no Lew Horton literature so I contacted them and recieved a Letter of Authenticity
( please see attached). Seems that this is one of only twenty pistols sold in this configuration. Lew Horton
Distributing has since gone out of business.Pistol has never been fired or even loaded. Pristine condition.
