Description: Charles Boswell .450 Number 2 Nitro Express. The action is very clean and tight on the face with 3 panels of game scene engraving and a 4th on the guard, a tiger and all of high period quality. The balance of the action and furniture are 80% covered in open scroll, no case color remains, the engraving is sharp at the edges and has nice contrast. The triggers work well as does the safety and the action is firm when opened, disk set strikers, side clips, double Purdey underbite, dolls head third fastener and a non auto safe, the triggers break clean on both barrels. The barrels are 24" with a file cut 1/4 rib, 1 standing, 2 folded and small bead front sight. Proofed for 80 grains of Cordite and a 480 grain bullet, Ken Owen shot the rifle on Feb 30th of '23 and it shot a 2" group at 65yds, no crossing, 91 grains of R-15 and a 500 grain Hornady bullet. The stocks are in nice condition with straight grain wood well suited to a double rifle that is not oil soaked and is very dense, 14" length of pull to a Silvers pad, the fore end is a Rigby lever style, the chequering is a wider LPI that Boswell used and recommended for use in the tropics. This rifle carries a 126 Strand address where the company moved in 1886 after having started in 1869 at Upper Fore St, Edmonton. The rifle weighs 11lbs 8oz.
