Carl Kirchner was a Texas Ranger from 1889 to 1895. This Colt is accompanied by a factory letter confirming shipment to J. S. Brown Hardware Company in Galveston Texas in 1891. No doubt this Single Action was carried for quite some time on the field and has seen a hard life. This is one of 2 Single Actions of Kirchner’s known today, the other being a factory engraved example. In 1893 while serving alongside Captain Frank Jones and John Hughes, he fought with them at the Battle of Tres Jacales. Was this the Single Action he was carrying during that time period and during that battle? Sadly there’s no way we will ever know but we can surely assume there’s a strong possibility. The gun itself shows it’s use in the field as it should for being a Texas Ranger gun. The action functions as it should. Here’s an excellent opportunity to get a genuine Texas Ranger gun for your collection as most are already in the collections of the Texan collectors and to pry one from their hands is nearly impossible. More documentation from the Texas Ranger Museum pertaining to Carl Kirchner’s history is included. Asking: $17,500.00 SOLD Antique: Yes |
