NSN, circa 1770, .75 caliber, 54.5" round smoothbore barrel, Barrel is a dark brown patina with pin-prick surface oxidation noted throughout. British proof marks are present. Lock plate is a British Pattern 1765-1785 style and is marked with “CROWN/GR" forward of cock and “TOWER" rear of the cock. Stock shows expected usage dings, nicks, and scratches. Wrist has been repaired with a brass piece that wraps around, this a period repair. Front section of the stock is loose from the barrel. Trigger guard and butt-plate appear to be Dutch. Ram-rod is a period correct piece. Action holds at half and full cock. This piece is fully described on page 161 of “Flintlock Fowlers- The First Guns Made in America" by Tom Grinslade. This Fowler remained in the same family from the Revolutionary War until purchased by Mr. Grinslade
