Description:
****SOLD**** Here we present a very nice Remington Model 51 semi auto pistol chambered in .380 ACP. The Remington Model 51 is a small pocket pistol designed by John Pedersen and manufactured by Remington Arms in the early 20th century for the American civilian market. Remington manufactured approximately 65,000 Model 51 pistols in .32 ACP and .380 ACP calibers from 1918 to 1926, though small numbers were assembled into the mid-1930s. The design allows for a lighter slide than a straight blowback operated pistol, and hence an overall lighter short arm, with the hesitation lock contributing to less felt recoil for this intuitive pointing pistol. General George S. Patton owned a Remington 51 and was thought to favor the pistol. This particular example is of the Type 1 design and was mfg in 1919. The type 1 has 9 slide serrations, no caliber marked on barrel, no Remington logo. This example exhibits the anchor inspection mark on the right side of the trigger guard at front. This pistol is in very good overall condition mechanically and physically given that is was made in 1919. Slide to frame fit is very good and operates smoothly. The gun has some honest wear and is taking on a slightly warm and handsome patina. Some high edge wear exists as would be expected. Sights are a simple small blade at the front and a small fixed sight with square notch at the rear. This fine Remington 51 would still serve nicely as a vintage concealed carry pistol or a great addition to a collection.
