Lock plate and barrel tang dated 1822 and lock stamped “EAGLE/US” and “SPRING/FIELD”. All original and complete as converted to percussion. Good overall with good markings and original patina on metal. Original Civil War era shield shaped German silver thumb plate engraved “E 9/12” for E Company, 9th Battalion, 12th Infantry Regiment. Stock with the original finish and two excellent Ordnance Inspector’s cartouches. Old collection label on butt stating “MODEL 1816/UNITED STATES/PERCUSSION CONVERSION”. Working order and fair to good bore. Shows war use but nice original example marked to the 12th Infantry Regiment that saw extensive service thru the whole war including the Battle of Gettysburg.
