CIVIL WAR NORWICH ARMS COMPANY U.S. MODEL 1861 PERCUSSION RIFLE-MUSKET DATED 1864. 40” rifled .58 cal. barrel with original sights. Norwich Arms Co. of Norwich, Conn. contract circa 1863-4 for 25,000 rifle-muskets of the standard 1861 pattern with flat bands and high arched hammer . All original and complete including the ramrod. Lock plate dated 1864 behind hammer and stamped with the Federal Eagle forward of the hammer and stamped “U.S./NORWICH” as well. Very good overall with original war used patina on metal and stock. Excellent markings with barrel proofs (V/P/EAGLE HEAD) clearly visible as is the Ordnance Inspector’s cartouche on the stock side panel. Working order and fair to good bore.
