Here we have a German-made Ortgies semi-automatic pistol chambered in .32 auto caliber. The Ortgies 7.65 mm pistol was a hammerless semi-automatic pistol that was produced in Germany in the years immediately after World War I, first by its inventor Heinrich Ortgies and then by Deutsche Werke. Inexpensive, but of good quality, the pistol achieved considerable success at contemporary shooting competitions and, as an export product, was popular throughout the Americas. This particular example is in good working condition with honest wear overall and some high edge wear. It has some muzzle wear presumably from going into and out of a holster. The 3 1/2" barrel has a good bore and strong rifling. The grip panels are free of cracks or chips and have what appear to be brass logo inserts. This fine German pistol would make a great addition to a collection of European small arms.
