Description:
This is a very nice vintage custom Colt Mk.IV Series 80 Government Model pistol in .45 ACP. Starting life in 1984 as a stainless steel Mk.IV, sometime likely in the late 1980's or early 1990's this COlt was lightly customized to be a handsome two-tone 1911 combining a light polishing of the stainless steel and the addition of some small blued parts. The factory sights were replaced with blued low-profile 3-dot style sights (rear is drift adjustable), a sleeker stainless Pachmayr slide stop was added, and the trigger, thumb safety, barrel bushing, recoil spring plunger, and grip safety were all swapped out for blued factory parts. The grips were also likely added at this point, however they could be factory as they are Colt factory accessories from this period. As you can see from the pictures, this is a very good looking Colt 1911 and it is in perfect working order. The bore is mirror-bright with sharp rifling and no visible imperfections, the slide-to-frame fitment is excellent with no slop in it, and all of the controls are in perfect working order. The action on this Government Model is as slick as they come and precise. The barrel lock-up with the slide is nice and tight. The internals of this pistol are just as clean and free from wear as the exterior. It has not even begun to be broken-in yet and still has a lot more than 95% of it's service life still in it. This Colt comes with one high-quality 7-round stainless steel magazine made by Metalform in it. The magazine is in excellent condition with perfect feed lips, a clean follower, and a string follower spring in it. There is no doubt that this pistol will shoot just as reliably and accurately today as the day it originally left the Colt factory over 38 years ago. If you have been looking for a great "shooter" Colt 1911 for your collection that you can enjoy at the range and as a long-term investment, this Mk.IV Series 80 Custom would be an excellent choice.
