Here we have a very handsome Remington 700 BDL Custom Deluxe bolt action rifle chambered in 7mm Remington Magnum caliber. The Remington Model 700 is a series of bolt-action centerfire rifles manufactured by Remington Arms since 1962. It is a development of the Remington 721 and 722 series of rifles, which were introduced in 1948. The M24 and M40 military sniper rifles, used by the US Army and Marine Corps, respectively, are both based on the Model 700 design. The Remington 700 is one of the classic bolt action rifles in America known for it's accuracy and dependability. It has proven itself as a hunting, tactical and benchrest rifle. The 7mm Remington Magnum rifle cartridge was introduced as a commercially available round in 1962, along with the new Remington Model 700 bolt-action rifle. It is a member of the belted magnum family that is directly derived from the venerable .375 H&H Magnum. The original purpose of the belted magnum concept taken from the .300 H&H Magnum and .375 H&H Magnum, was to provide precise headspace control, since the sloping shoulders, while easing cartridge extraction, were unsuitable for this purpose. Improved cartridge extraction reliability is desirable while hunting dangerous game, in particular when a fast follow-up shot is required. This particular rifle is in the BDL Custom Deluxe trim level and as such it sports attractive engraving, upgraded stock with skip line checkering, iron sights, black forend cap and deluxe recoil pad. The rifle has some handling marks on the stock. The barrel has a crowned muzzle and a very good bore with strong rifling. This fine Remington would make a strong addition to a collection or an excellent hunting piece.
