1973 - Remington - Nylon 66 Apache Black - .22 LR As New In Original Box. Serial number on box matches gun. Barrel date code is January, 1973. Print date on Owners Manual is July, 1972.
I've seen a few of these sell for big prices - used guns with boxes with no serial numbers. Short of finding one that came from a time capsule - there isn't much room for improvement.
I purchased this gun in 1993 from an estate, because I had owned one as a kid in the 1970s. The gun appeared to be new. I don't believe I ever fired it, but I may have fired a few rounds through it. When I purchased it, there wasn't much collector interest in the guns, so I didn't take as much care with the box as I could have. The gun went in the safe and the box went in the attic.
