Description:
This 1918 Erfurt P-08 Luger, 9mm pistol is in excellent operational condition and would be a great collectable if not for the following:

1. The blued finish applied to this gun in recent years is incorrect for P-08 Lugers, for any Luger.  The good news is, all the markings are legible (date, serial numbers, proof marks), except for the military receiver proof, which is barely visible with top and bottom obscured.  The current finish is a good job and looks nice, though it is worn to shiny metal and left side of the muzzle and barrel, and a touch on the right side of the muzzle.  There are scratches on the left side of the receiver, just above the grip panel.  As the metal prepararation was well done before current bluing, I think the gun could probably be restored, but I cannot guess at what cost, and what affect the non-matching serial number of the locking bolt would have the guns final value.

2. While most serial numbers (8091 & 91) match, the one on the locking bolt does not, nor do the serial numbers on the magazines, which also do not match each other.

3. The underside of the barrel is stamped “MADE IN GERMANY”.  After the WWI, some guns were so stamped and exported.  Whether or not this stamp affects its value as a collectable depends on who you ask.

The holster is not original to this gun, and it is not in great condition.  The rear of the holster is stamped “RYFFEL & BORNS HANOVER”.  Below that is stamped “1936”.  Below that is the German straight-wing eagle atop a swastika.  About 30-40 percent of the finish is worn off the flap.  The rest of the holster retains most of its finish, though it is scratched throughout, except under the flap.  The holster is dried and cracked in several places on the back, probably due to sweat.  The flap has a 1/3-inch tear just in front of the flap belt.  The belt itself is almost torn through on the second notch; a strip of Flex Tape applied to the back of the belt keeps it from tearing off.  There is a wear hole on the back of the holster, about three inches from the tip.  There is another ¼ x ¼-inch hole on top of the flap.  The pistol retention strap on the inside of the holster is in place and in good condition.  All of the stitching is intact.

So, if you have always wanted a German Luger that you can go out and shoot, this is your chance, unless you are thinking restoration.

The photos are high resolution, so zoom to see details.  Contact me for additional photos of any area you would like to see or see better.

The buyer pays USPS Priority mail ($25) and insurance ($27.75).  Insurance per the USPS is $11.50 for the first $600 of insurance, plus $1.75 for each additional $100 of insurance (rounded up).

The fastest way to get this gun is to pay with USPS (U.S. Postal Service) money order, as they are like cash.  I will ship the pistol immediately upon receipt of a USPS money order and an FFL.  As USPS money orders are limited to $1,000, this purchase will require two USPS money orders.  I will also accept a personal check and other types of money orders, as well as bank checks and cashier's checks, but I will hold the gun until it clears my bank; this includes bank checks and cashier’s checks.  I do not accept credit cards, debit cards, or PayPal.

Check or money order must be made out to Jerry Pownall (not Barboursville Arms).
