Description:
This listing expires mid-month and it will not be relisted here.  My intent was to sell this rifle at a cost below what could be found on this site and elsewhere.  If you check around...this site included, that is what I have done.

Mannlicher Schoenauer Model 1952 30-06 in superb condition. No scope has ever been mounted and NO extra holes have ever been punched to accomodate cheap scope mounts.  You decide what kind of mounts you wish to have.  You want to have extra holes punched, that'll be your call. I've owned it for 20 years or so and after purchasing it, I noticed that a custom, checkered Fajen stock had been put on to replace the original. Why, I haven't a clue. The barrel bluing is very good as are all the metal parts such as bolt, breech, baseplate, trigger guard,et.al.  It does not look like it has been used much and certainly not by me in the last 20 years. The rifling is exceptional.  I have taken the barrel off to look at the stock and have determined that whenever it was done it was 1) a long time ago, and 2) with the fit, professionally done. I shot it two days ago at a 5"X18" hanging metal plate at 200 yards and hit it two of three times, with the plate the size of the front bead.  So it is a shooter and will be even better with a Zeiss or Swarovski scope mounted. Why am I selling it?  I'm 75 years old, have been putting guns in the gun safe for some 55 years. I figure if I haven't shot something much, time to go...before I do... and it gets sold by you-know-who for $89. It's a rare find when you come across one of these rifles that has not been buggered up with scope base holes drilled where the engraving is with Mannlicher Schoenauer, the model and the rifle's caliber just in front of the bolt. Not used to double set triggers? You'll be singing my name on the range...quietly in the woods...

I'm asking $1200... US Postal Service Money Order is my preference.  I just sold a Mauser 66 to a gent in New Mexico a short time back, same price and it cost him $43.85 insured for full value and signature required, after I beat FEDEX out of $18 for a retired military discount.  Getting that again is no gimmee, so let's say $50 shipping, as this rifle is a bit heavier. More, I'll absorb the additional cost. I'll need FFL or Curio/Relic paperwork.

Lastly???   Interested??? EMAIL me.  I'm hard to catch on my home phone listed and get too many solicitations for junque...so EMAIL pls with your phone #...and I'll call you...Is there a better rifle (condition and maker) for this price?  I think not...
