Description:
The Iver Johnson Special Trap was introduced in 1926 and was in production until 1950. The Special Trap was really just a modification to the IJ Champion single barrel shotgun, the biggest difference is that the Special Trap has a ventilated rib with two ivory sights, just what you need for trap. The barrel is 32 inches with an ejector but the most unique feature is that it has an exposed hammer, very unusual indeed for a dedicated trap gun during the smokeless powder era. You might think a gun like this with an exposed hammer would be on the crude side, but that is totally untrue. It is actually a very well built gun and put together very nicely. Some of my information presented here has come from Frank Conley's excellent book, The American Single Barrel Trap Gun, I highly recommend it if you are interested in vintage SBT guns./////////
