The left isde of the frame has an oval marking of V.C.S. * C.G.H. SUHL. This stands for the V.C. Shilling and C.G. Hanel consortium in Suhl. The bottom of the barrel knox form is marked S,S, and S. The left lower barrel and frame and cylinder have the commercila double crown over U proof mark. The top strap bears the retailer marking W. KNIES over DARMSTADT. The rear grip strap is hand stamped G.C. 163 (Gardes du Corps Regiiment? followed by the serial numver). The smooth wood grips are fine with the right panel having a small almost unnoticable chip at the intersection with the frame. The action functions correctly. The holster is excellent with a smooth brown finish and tight stitching. It is marked AWM over 10 over 93. This stands for Artillerie Werkstatten Munchen with the 10 being the works number and the 93 being the date of manufacture (1893). This fine example of a retailer marked officers model 1883 Reichsrevolver with its original holster is ready for your German or European military pistol collection. SOLD Curio/Relic: Yes |
