Description:
The period of this Flintlock musket appears to be circa 1820's and typical of Mass Milita Muskets made by various contracters through out the north eastern US.  Usually referred to as New England muskets this one is most likely from Worchester county,as during this period two piece side plates were used, the back oval and front tear drop shaped.  The dark unsanded or cleaned stock is probably walnut.  There is a chip below the lock and some cracks on the left side. The functioning flintlock does not appear to have been reconverted lock size is approximately 1 1/4 inch by 6 5/8ths The 42 inch smooth bore barrel appears  to be approximately 70 caliber and has a bayonet lug and there may be a proof mark at the breach it appears to be a P. The lock and barrel are a smooth dark brown with some pitting near the breach.  All furniture is brass with a uncleaned dark patina. The ramrod appears original.  A nice piece of history. Shipping will be actuall cost.  Please feel free to contact me with questions.
