Description:
This is a brand new in the box PPK. The PPK is a design that traces its origins all the way back to Walther’s original PP model of 1929. The “PP” stood for “Polizeipistole” or “Police Pistol”. A year later, a smaller version, the PPK was introduced. Contrary to popular belief, the “K” in the designation does not stand for the German word “Kurz” or “Short” in English. The “K” actually stands for the German word, “Kriminal”, or literally “Criminal”. Thus, the full name of the PPK is “Polizeipistole Kriminal”, referring to the Kriminalamt crime investigation office as the pistol was primarily intended for detectives and other undercover officers. Both the PP and PPK were the first truly successful double action pistols in the world. The PPK was made famous worldwide by fictional character of James Bond from Ian Flemings many spy novels. The PPK was imported from Germany to the United States until 1968 when further importation was prohibited by the Gun Control Act of ’68. To pass the restrictions imposed by the Gun Control Act of 1968, Walther combined the PPK slide with a PP frame, creating the PPK/S. These were initially imported by Interarms in Virginia. Later on, Walther allowed Smith & Wesson to build them under license. Eventually, Walther built a new factory in Fort Smith, AK to not only produce the PPK/S themselves, but to reintroduce the original PPK to the US market for the first time since 1968. The PPK in 380 ACP provides the user with a nice conceal carry pistol. Its small size allows for easier concealment on any part of the human body, giving the user more options of where they want to carry their pistol. This example features a matte black finish and polymer grips. The frame and slide are made of a Zinc alloy. The pistol comes with the outer box, a hard carry case (factory), manual, and two magazines – one with the pinky extension, and one without.
