Great Rifle for TARGET SHOOTING or Hunting Game
Here we present a C&R German Single Shot 8mm Centerfire Caliber Target Rifle, made circa the early to mid-1900s in Germany. Not too many German single shot hunting rifles can be found because most serious hunters likely owned either a “Drilling”, a combination gun, or a bolt action Sporting Rifle. But, there were those who know they needed only one shot, and they were the ones that were attracted to this type of rifle. This would have been a very handy rifle to carry and load for the forester or hunter. Its single shot action would have been great to teach a young lad the importance of making every shot count!
The overall condition is very good. Much of the original finish has been preserved. Strong, tight action. bright bore. The stock is in very good shape and contains sharp checkering with less than average wear. Detailed floral engravings on the frame. This example has German crown proofs underneath the breech and includes a sight adjustment tool.
