Description:
Nice Schultz & Larson .243 bolt action with Hensoldt 'Diasta' 4x32 scope. Made in Otterup, Denmark, probably in the 1960's. The owner is deceased and I do not much of its history except that it was purchased in Germany in the 1960's. I have fired the rifle some time ago, and it appears to be totally functional. The ammunition I have is old and I did not have the tools to adjust the point of impact, so I do not recall how it grouped.This rifle was a 'user,' the metal has no known flaws except some edge bluing loss at the muzzle crown. From the photos you can see that the wood has dents and scratches, but none penetrate the finish.There is a rosewood cap on the pistol grip and the original Schultz & Larson recoil pad.
The scope is a Hensoldt (now Zeiss Group Germany) 'Diasta.' It is mounted using European style 'claw mounts' that lock into the front mount and release via two tabs at the rear mount. These scopes are well made, but difficult to change. Note that it has only has one adjustment turret on the top. VIa the internet I found that the cap comes off and there are three screws that allow for both windage and elevations adjustment. Also, the scope has a German 4A reticle with three heavy black crosshairs that go nearly to the center, then they become fine corsshairs in the center. The top crosshair is fine as are all four at the center, there is no dot in the center.
