Description:
A Very Rare And Desirable Early U.S. Civil War Percussion Cosmopolitan Carbine In Fine Untouched Condition. Serial #423, all matching numbers. All original and complete. Only 1,200 made from 1859 to 1862. The carbine has nice metal, markings, and edges. The barrel on the gun has a plum brown color throughout it. The rest of the metal on the carbine has a natural plum blue color to it.  The original wood is fine throughout with nice edges. The bore is fine and the action is very tight and crisp. Most of these carbines were issued to the 6th Illinois Cavalry who carried them on "Grierson's Raid". 400 were issued to the 5th Illinois Cavalry  who fought mostly in Arkansas & Mississippi. This Is A Fine Looking Untouched Example Of A Rare And Early Sought After Civil War Percussion Cosmopolitan Carbine!
