In the time that led up to the fall of the iron curtain, the Polish military decided to move toward a 5.56 chambered service rifle. Their first attempt was in 1991 with the wz. 1991 (wz. 1988 rifles that were rechambered from 5.45 to 5.56), however, in 1995, the Polish decided that a more permanent ground up rifle design would be better. In keeping with the Polish tradition of naming their rifle lines after elements in the periodic table, the new rifle series was designated as the Beryl, after beryllium. The Beryl was adopted in 1997 and is still in service in Poland to this day.
This is an extremely well built F.B. Radom Beryl M1 that has a KNS Precision adjustable gas piston and includes two 30-round magazines.
