Description:
Sold to the Hunter in Idaho// This is a takedown Winchester Model 1895. It has been restocked with nice honey colored wood, and properly rebored to 35 Whelen. The barrel is also properly marked as to its new caliber and of course the bore is excellent. This rifle left the factory as a 30-06. It had some extra holes drilled into the receiver, most likely for a side mounted rear sight. These holes were filled and then all the metal was rust blued. You can feintly see the shadows of the holes that were filled. (If it were mine I would consider a Lyman 57 peep sight for it, and I'd put a filler wedge in the rear sight dovetail cut.) The takedown function works as it should, and it does NOT have any wobble or play in the action/barrel fit. it has a steel winchester buttplate.
