VERY FINE CONDITION CLASSIC LITTLE No.3 .41 CALIBER DERRINGER, #9XXX. These were made from 1870-1912 in a quantity of about 48,000. This example with this fairly low serial number (located on the grip frame under the grips) probably puts a manufacture date of about 1880 or so. This full nickel example retains excellent walnut grips that still show good finish and fit perfectly with no chips or cracks. The nickel is all intact on the grip straps and most of the frame with only a little brass showing through on the left side high edge. The barrel also retain most of the nickel with some peeling/wear on the right side high edge and toward the muzzle with the balance intact. Has the correct large "COLT" marking on the barrel top and tiny "41 CAL" stamp on the left side of the frame. Tight mechanically and fine rifled bore. Many of these were sent to England where they were very popular. This one does NOT have English proofs and was meant for the American market. Handsome early little Colt with lots of condition.
