Description:
This is an original WWI US Military MKII Fragmentation Grenade with a MKI Twist-Lever Fuze. Due to the body height, shoulder curve and segments in the neck, we know this to be of the earliest Type MKII grenade. Soon after this example the MKII body and fuze were changed. The twist-lever grenade was often deployed without the twist-lever activated and the enemy would arm or release the striker by twisting the lever and throw it back. This example has only light surface oxidation and is in excellent condition but without the fuze shield and percussion cap. Being from a short period of production, this will add to any collection.
